Pharmacy First Services

Pharmacy First allows you to receive clinical advice and treatment for a range of common conditions directly from a pharmacist without the need to visit a GP first. This service helps you get the care you need more quickly and supports easier access to everyday healthcare.

Appointments are simple to book and many conditions can be treated in the pharmacy during your visit. Our trained pharmacists will assess your symptoms, provide guidance, recommend self care where appropriate, and supply treatment if it is suitable for your condition.

This service is available for eligible NHS patients and is designed to make healthcare more accessible and convenient for individuals and families in our community.

  • Sore throat

  • Sinusitis

  • Ear infection in children aged between one and seventeen

  • Infected insect bites

  • Uncomplicated urinary tract infection in women aged between sixteen and sixty four

  • Shingles

Eligibility applies to certain conditions and age groups. If treatment is not suitable, we will provide clear advice on the next steps or refer you to another healthcare professional.

How the Service Works

Step One Booking

Book an appointment online or visit the pharmacy in person. Same day appointments are often available.

Step Two Consultation

You will have a private consultation with a pharmacist who will take time to understand your symptoms and medical history. This helps us ensure that any advice or treatment is safe and suitable.

Step Three Treatment or Referral

If treatment is appropriate, you may receive NHS funded medication during your visit. If a GP or another service is required, we will help guide you to the right place so you can continue your care without delay.
